Black Eyed Susans

These Black Eyed Susans (pictured above far right) were in Mom & Dad’s yard.

Mom took the picture….I’m guessing about 20 years ago.  As you may have already read elsewhere on this site, this is one of the photos that inspired me to create My Favorite Gardens notecards.  They were just too pretty not to share with the world somehow.

This photo also inspired me to begin collecting and planting these guys (or I guess I should call them gals).

Whether you plant one or many – they are beautiful.   AND drought tolerant.  But the deer love them – at least they do in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. A periodic dose of milorgranite deters them – unless they get really hungry.

So – if you love the look like I do, I encourage you to plant some, re-visit this photo a lot AND order Black Eyed Susan Notecards!    They look just like the photo below – only larger (6 1/4 X 4 5/8 inches).
